Hawthorne Heights is an American rock/emo punk band that formed in Dayton, Ohio in June of 2001. They were originally known as "A Day In The Life" but changed their name as their music and their lineup changed. JT Woodruff is the frontman on vocals and guitar, Matt Ridenour is on bass, Eron Bucciarelli on drums, and Casey Calvert and Micah Carli on guitar. Hawthorne Heights' unusual mix of three guitar players, a bass player, and a drummer give them the ability to transition distortion without pedals or pauses.'Hawthorne' is a reference to the author Nathaniel Hawthorne and 'Heights' refers to transcendentalism.

Hawthorne Heights recorded "The Silence In Black And White" over four weeks in Madison, WI at Smart Studios and in Chicago in February and March of 2004. "The Silence In Black And White" contains songs of frustration, personal growth and evolution. Musically, it tests the limitations of the "post-hardcore" and "screamo" music genres, adding deeper and darker subtleties.

I first came upon Hawthorne Heights at horrible hours of the morning in the summer. I was flipping through the channels and landed on MTV. On the tv, was a band of all guys looking "emo." I was way bored and nothing else was on so I watched it. I fell in love with them instantly. They are one of my favortie bands and I can relate to their lyrics very closely. I love, and always will love, Hawthorne Heights. The band that saved me.

I love everyone in the band but my favorite is JT Woodruff, lead singer. Casey and Micah are a close second. I was so happy to hear that Hawthorne Heights was going to be playing at this years Vans Warped Tour, and agian to the X96 Big show. At warped tour, I was right next to the stage, and I fought hard for that spot. They took forever to take the stage, but when they did it was worth it. The first song they played was "The Transition" and I just went nuts. I was screaming along to the music, jumping around, and getting hit by crowed surfers. It was unbelieveable. They put on such a good show, especially Micah. He runs of the stage and dives into the crowd, goes nuts playing the guitar, and he is just amazing. I can't wait until they play again, and I will be front and center again.

One of my most prized possessions is a Hawthorne Heights shirt signed by the band. I remember the line for them to sign was HUGE, but nothing would stop me from getting to meet them and having them sign something, it didn't matter what. When I got up to the bench where they all were, I couldn't believe that my favorite band was a foot in front of me smiling up at me and asking me "whats up?" I felt like such a dork because I couldn't even move or speak. I just kinda smiled, knodded, and handed them my shirt. My shirt went down the line, getting signed by everyone. When it got to JT, I just couldn't stop smiling. It was one of the best days ever. Seeing them in concert, and meeting the most amazing band ever, Hawthorne Heights.
