My hero is Paul Hewson, and he will always be a hero in the minds of musician and philanthropists. Paul Hewson was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. His dad was Roman Catholic and his mother was Protestant. My hero has helped with such causes as Band-Aid and Live-Aid. This famous musician is known worldwide but most of you probably know my hero as Bono the lead singer of the band called U2.

Bono was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. He went to school at Mount Temple Comprehensive School; it was a Protestant and Catholic school. It was the first one of its kind in Dublin. As he went to the school he acquired the nickname of Bono Vox Of O’Connell St in 1976. In 1984 Bono had participated in Band Aid and he did this again in the 2005 Band Aid 20. Band Aid is an Irish and British charity group that was created in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. It was made in order to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia; they accomplished this by making a record called "Do They Know It's Christmas." He also appeared in a live concert for Live Aid in 1985 and again in Live Aid 8 in 2005. Since the year of 1999 Bono has become more involved in campaigning for third-world debt relief and the plight of Africa.

As the lead singer for the awesome Irish rock group U2, Bono has been the most vocal and energetic member of the group. Bono's amazing lyrics have inspired people and have touched the hearts of many people. His songs are usually inspired by politics, religion, social issues and sometimes talk of tales of love and loss. Even now Bono is either recording a record or on tour. He has dedicated and given up a large part of his life to humanitarian efforts. In the year of 2005, Bono and Bill and Melinda Gates were named TIME magazine's Persons of the Year.

The reason Bono is my hero is because he has helped with so many causes such as Band Aid and Live Aid. He has given up countless amounts of hour to raise money for so many causes. He also has donated lots of money to help causes such as DATA, which stands for Debt, Aids, and Trade in Africa.

As you have probably have read on my Web page, Bono definitely is a hero to many different kinds of people. I believe that Bono’s help in the war against AIDS is going to be have big role in finding a cure for AIDS and HIV. I truly believe that there is a cure somewhere for AIDS and HIV, and with the help of Bono and the rest of the world we will find a cure.
