Angela Holtzhauer

When many people think about a hero they think of someone like Superman, Batman, and people with super powers. But when I think of a hero, I think of someone who makes sacrifices, has courage, and has impacted someone’s life. There have been many great people who have made world changes and affected people all over the world. But I like to get more personal with my hero. I want to talk about someone that you have not heard about in a classroom, on television, or in a newspaper.

My hero is my mother Angela. Angela is a woman who has done all of these heroic things and more. She is a woman who has raised two children by herself. Raising kids is hare as it is and doing it alone without another parent in the household is tremendously difficult. Making sure that you are raising your children with the correct morals is very important. Society nowadays has many negative distractions for adolescence; they cat stir you in the direction, especially when a parent is not always able to be around their children, whatever the circumstance may be.

My mother has managed to keep y brother and me out of trouble. She has reinforced how important our education is and how a college degree is what you need to make it in this world. My brother and I are aware how hard my mother works to keep food on the table, clothes on our back, and still make sure that we have a good life, even if that means that she has works two jobs. Working all week and weekends do not bother her the least bit as long as that her children are happy.

Many children wish they has a good relationship with their parents the way I do with my mom. The relationship with my mom is something that I will always cherish. I hope when I have children our relationship, is like my mother and mine.
