Ian Bernstein

Have you ever wondered what the future will be like? Ian Bernstein is one of the people who is making the future happen. Ian was "Born July 1, 1983" ("Ian Bernstein Biography"). Ian Bernstein was raised in New Mexico and home-schooled from a young age, where he initially developed an interest in robotics by taking all the household electronics apart ("Ian Bernstein). "At the age of 12 he attended the BEAM International Robotics Games and his lifelong passion in the field of robotics was sparked" ("Ian Bernstein Biography"). "His senior year, Ian he dropped out to learn about business by starting a web development company" ("Ian Bernstein Biography"). "In the summer of 2010 with the backing of TechStars, a seed accelerator/investment program, Ian and his co-founder Adam Wilson created their first product, Sphero, an app-enabled robotic ball" (Slagel para 2). Ian Bernstein is a hero for being a pioneer in robotics, for being determined, and for being passionate about what he does, making innovative robotics.

Ian Bernstein is determined to continue making advanced robotics even when things get tough.Ian and his company have had troubles, but they persists until they find a way to fix it. "There've been a lot of times when I'm struggling and all my credit cards have been filled up, but luckily it all worked out. Just know when to keep going, but know when to quit as well" ("Ian Bernstein Biography"). Even when he is having trouble, and he is low on money and high on stress, he doesn't give up. At the same time, he knows when to quit, and move on to new things. Ian is determined to make a robot for every house, and he wants this to be the main goal for the future. "Our mission at Sphero is to put a robot in every home and we don't see any reason we can't make that happen" (Slagel para 6). Ian is determined to make his dreams come true, and to have his product be a regular thing in homes. He doesn't see why he can't work hard to make his dreams for his company come true. Ian is determined to continue growing his company, and doesn't quit when things get tough.

Ian is passionate about robotics, and loves doing what he does. Ian had to work hard in the technology industry to get where he is today. "Over the next four years he did web development while maintaining a part-time job at RoadNarrows Robotics doing research and design to keep his engineering skills fresh" ("Ian Bernstein Biography"). Ian worked hard to get where he is today. Since he is so passionate about robotics, he had a part time job and did web development for 4 years so he could create the company he works at today. Ian became hooked on robotics at the age of 12 after going to the international robotics games. "At the age of 12 Ian attended the International BEAM Robotics Games and was hooked" ("Ian Bernstein"). After he went to the robotic games, he knew what he wanted to do. Robotics. After that he worked hard to get into robotics.


Ian Bernstein is a hero to me for being determined, passionate, and for having the bravery to pursue his dreams. Ian is determined to follow his big dreams for his company, even when it gets tough. He is brave and takes risks for his company to grow. He is also passionate about what he does. Ian Bernstein inspires me by showing that if you work and believe hard enough, you can get a job that you truly enjoy. He also inspires me because he makes advanced technology in a unique way that nobody else does, and didn't do the same thing other robotic companies are doing. Ian Bernstein is a smart and passionate person who is determined and loves to do what he does.
