Ion Creanga is a famous Romanian writer, very popular among children. He was born in Humulesti, Romania, on the first of March 1837. He had seven brothers and sisters and a wonderful childhood. He was tall, had brown eyes, dark and curly hair.

Ion Creanga is one of my favourite Romanian writers. Thousands of children read his childhood memories every year. His short stories are funny, easy to read and the characters are hard to forget. Life in the country in the 19th century is very colourful and the language he uses is specific to his native region he grew up in. The main character of his childhood memories is Nica, alias Ion Creanga.
