Iqbal Masih
My hero is Iqbal Masih. He was born
in 1983 and lived in Muridke, Pakistan. His family was very poor and his
parents could not care for him. He was very brave and bright. I chose him
because he freed children from slavery. That was a brave thing he did because
Pakistan is a dangerous place to live.
His
goal has inspired children and adults to become involved in his mission to end
child slavery. He would give speeches about child slavery and how it was wrong.
Iqbal encouraged education so that others could stand up for their own rights.
He would also encourage the end of the injustice in sweatshops around the
world.
"Children should have pens in their hands not
tools." - Iqbal Masih
"I
would like to do what Abraham Lincoln did - I would like to do it in Pakistan."-
Iqbal Masih
He
lived in Muridke, Pakistan. Muridke is a major commercial area and is the
headquarters of the Terror Organization. Rana Teveer Hussain, Minister of Mawaz
Sharif, is famous for his corruption and criminal record. He is also considered
behind most of the murders and robberies in the area. This is a clear example
of the mind-set of the people in Muridke.
Iqbal
was born in 1983 and died in 1995. He was raised in a small town called
Muridke. At the time people used child labor. When he was born, his family was
in debt and had to work to pay it off. So he was put to work in a rug factory
and his worked there for most of his life. He saw how unfair child labor was
and worked to get rid of it.
Iqbal Masih is important to me because he was
my age when he started this mission. That means he is very brave, unlike me. He
gives me courage to be the best I can be. He encourages me in many ways, such
as helping children who are in need, all over the world. The fact that I can
make a change is great. Iqbal isn't just a life changer for me, but someone who
changes others lives. I hope that someday I can help people in need just like
him.
