Dr. Irwin Moon

Dr. Moon getting electrified. But no harm done.()

In 1937, scientist-preacher Dr. Irwin Moon, allowed one million volts of electricity race through his body for several seconds. After the power was shut off, Dr. Moon stepped off the electrified stage unharmed. After the presentation, Moody President Dr. Will Houghton watched in awe, so impressed with this demonstration and Dr. Moon's educational evangelism, invited Moon to join Moody's extension staff.

In 1939, Dr. Moon continued his Sermons from Science demonstrations in front of packed crowds at the San Fransisco World's Fair. Six years later, Dr. Moon's passion for science led to the founding of the Moody Institute of Science. He made an entire series of experiments that were available on video tape from Moody Bible Institute where he worked. He also had videotaped himself reading the Bible.

People says that he was a "true scientist" and "a man seeking the TRUTH about God's creation". People enjoyed being educated by him. Since a lot of people adored his work Dr. Moon also did his education outside. People also said that "he was a great Bible preacher and writer", and "had one of the best ever books on what exactly Christian Faith and Christian Life are all about".

Dr. Moon wrote a five chapter book called "Can Jesus Be Trusted". He made at least twenty-five video taped lessons on Christian Science.

I think Dr. Irwin Moon is my hero because he inspired me to be a scientist and a preacher when I grow up. I would like to become a scientist some day, but I also want to preach God's word.
