My hero is Jarome Iginla because he inspires me in hockey. Jarome Iginla was born April 1, 1977 in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. He grew up in Edmonton. Jarome Iginla really liked math in school. Iginla really wanted to be in the NHL. He got Drafted for the Dallas Stars in 1995 and now he plays for the Calgary Flames.

Iginla’s life is remarkable because he made the NHL. Many people admire Jarome Iginla and cheer him on at his games with the Calgary Flames. Iginla is a very friendly guy and a very, very good hockey player. He inspired me by sending me a picture of him and three signed hockey cards. On the picture Jarome Iginla wrote, "all the best in hockey" and I always choose number 12 as my jersey number. Jarome was a very smart kid in school and he likes to read a lot. He was a pretty good hockey player when he was a kid but now he is fantastic. Jarome Iginla’s first NHL year for Calgary Flames was 1996-1997. On Iggy’s first year he got 21 goals and 29 assists and that equals 50 points. Jarome got 169 shots that year and 37 penalty minuts. My hero is alive. He is not dead. Jarome Iginla didnt really want to play hockey but his dad signed him up and he started to love the sport hockey. Jarome Iginla played for the Dallas Stars for one year. I don't think he liked it as much as the Calgary Flames though.

Jarome Iginla won lots of awards like the Rocket Richard trophy, Art Ross trophy in 2002, the MVP trophy, the memorial cup, the King Clancy trophy in 2002, Lester B. Pearson award 2004, The Molsen Canadian Trophy a couple uf times and an Olympic gold medal. Those are some of the awards. Jarome Iginla also loved baseball. He didn’t want to be in major league baseball. He wanted to be in the NHL. Jarome really wanted to be in the NHL but he never thought he would get as good as he is.

I picked Jarome Iginla because he sent me a really nice picture that says, "all of the best in hockey" and he sent three hockey cards that are signed. One is a rookie card. I also picked him because he is a great hockey player and is very nice. Sometimes when we are at his hockey games he throws us pucks. One time we went to Edmonton for the last game of the year and he threw us pucks. Also we went to Salt Lake City for the Olympic games and he saw us and we went down to the glass and he threw us pucks. So that is why I picked Jarome Iginla.

Jarome Iginla can be pretty rough sometimes. But Jarome Iginla is a great goal scorer. In the 2001-02 season Jarome Iginla got 52 goals 44 assists to lead the NHL scoring race. Jarome Iginla is 6 foot 1 and 207 pounds. He is a pretty big guy and very tough and doesn't get injured very often.
