India Arie |
India Arie Simpson was born October 3, 1975 in Denver, Colorado. She went to Georgia’s Savanna College of Art and Design. She has written many songs about self-confidence, acceptance, and healing. She was nominated for seven Grammy awards including song of the year, best new artist, and album of the year. She is my hero because she is confident and she helps young people by finding places for them to live or stay for a little bit.
In 2001, she released her first album called "Acoustic Soul." One of her best songs released was "video" it was on her first album. One of her albums just came out called "Testimony; volume 2, love and politics." One of her best songs was called "video," the album name is acoustic soul. One of the reasons India started singing was because her mother was a singer and it inspired her to sing. Now her mother is a fashion designer who goes by the name Simpson. India’s Dad played professional basketball with the Denver Nuggets.
Once when India went to visit some children with her sister, they were asking all the girls if they had one wish what would it be, and one of the girls said " I wish that you would take me home with you" and she made India cry because she couldn’t take her with her because of her career. Then India said that if she could she would take all of them home.
India said "Color has a great significance because I feel it. If I wear white, I feel a certain way – very calm, clear. I wear pink and it makes me feel a certain way – really loving and more open. Yellow is a lot of energy and orange is very sensual. But I feel it when I put those colors on and that's why I wear colors. It actually works. It's not something I learned from a book or anything. It's just something that works for me".
She is living in New York right now, making more music and saving little kids lives. As of right now, she is still singing and helping kids fight HIV and Aids. It’s sad seeing little kids suffer so she wanted to help. That’s why I picked her for my hero because I don’t like seeing little kids suffer.
