| J.K. Rowling |
Martin Luther King, Jr. once said “The time is always right to do what is right.” This quote is great for J.K. Rowling because J.K. Rowling wrote this book as a single mother of an infant. She made her own time for writing like when her daughter was sleeping or when she was napping. She had to also work and support a daughter all by herself. Even though she was a single mother with a job and a young child she still managed to write a best selling book for all ages. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone took 5 years to write since she never really had a time to work on it. J.K. Rowling was a great writer and a great mother.
On July 31st, 1965 J.K. Rowling was born and nobody knew that she would on day write a book that would change her life forever. Her parents met at Kings Cross Station while they were on their way to fight in the navy. A year later they had Joanne Kathleen also known as J.K. Rowling. She was born on the outskirts of Bristol in a little town. She wanted to become a writer when she was 6 years old. Joanne Kathleen’s first book was titled “Rabbits”. “Rabbits” was written when she was 6 years old and it was about rabbits. Then December 30th, 1990 Joanne Kathleen’s mother had died. The whole family was devastated when she died.

When she was 4 years old her family moved to Winterbourne then she moved to Turtshill when she was 9 years old. Joanne’s sister was born 1 year and 11 months later and her name was Di. In Turtshill Joanne meet a lot of kids so Joanne and Di had many friends. When she moved to Turtshill their neighbor’s last name was Potter. She always liked that name and she never forgot it. She always loved Halloween because the kids always dressed up. She still likes the holiday but she missed the holiday when she was in the United States for a show and an interview.
One day while Joanne Kathleen was riding on a train in 1990 she thought of an idea about a boy who was a wizard whose parents had died. Later on she moved to Portugal and married a man but then divorced. The she attended Exter College and studied to become an English teacher. Then she moved back to Edinburgh, Scotland with her daughter. While she was teaching she would write about ten hours a day between classes and when her daughter is sleeping. Sometimes she wouldn’t get to write because she would have to look after her daughter. She was a single mother writing a book about a boy wizard.
After five long years of writing for ten hours a day she finally finished her book. After one year of looking she finally found a company that would print her book. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone was finally published in 1997. The book won the Children’s book of the Year award for Britain. Soon after she started writing the next two books in the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In the summer of 2000 Bloomsbury gave J.K. Rowling $400 million dollars for the first three books. The first three books took the first three slots in the New York bestseller list. The book is printed in 35 languages and pre-sold 30 million copies. Goblet of Fire pre-sold over a million copies and sold 5.3 million copies on the first printing. The books are sold and printed in Britain, America, Brazil, Holland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Japan.
In the book some of the names are completely made up but some names have meaning. For example her neighbor when she lived in Turtshill their last name was Potter. She always liked the name and always remembered it. That is probably why Harry’s last name is Potter because she always liked the name. Another name that has some meaning is Draco which means snake. However, some names she just made up out of her mind. This was Joanne Kathleen’s first book ever written and published.
In conclusion, J.K. Rowling is my hero because she was intelligent and had a great imagination. She wrote Harry Potter, a book all about using you imagination to picture the magical world of Harry Potter. She was a hard worker because she had to work her teaching job while she also took care of her daughter and she wrote almost ten hours a day. Also she was brave for when her mother died she was devastated but she still kept writing and she was working hard so she wouldn’t let her mother down. Joanne Kathleen had inspired countless number of kids to read and follow their dreams. Also she has got numerous kids to read big books.
