A man of many expertises, Jack Black is a simple man, just an average person from inside to outside. From him, people can learn to see humor in almost any time, dark times or not. He is not even greatly gifted or talented, yet he can make it, whether it’s playing guitar, singing, acting, or even just being a normal guy. And how many people can say they have a video game starring them as the main character? Any person like me can see how he is an inspiration, but for some people he may not be sophisticated or have a big enough impact on the world for some people, but that’s not me.

Jack was born in Santa Monica, California August 28, 1969. Both of his parents were working as satellite engineers. His birth name isn’t Jack Black; his full name is Thomas Jacob Black, and he was raised Jewish. When he went to high school his parents wanted to send him to a private school designed for students that couldn’t work with the regular school system. Also in school he happened to be gifted in drama, which is where he first got his acting edge. When he first started acting it started in prime time. (Such as Golden Palace and Life goes on) Moving on he went to Airborne, Demolition Man, Waterworld, The Fan, The Never Ending Story III, and more. Then his career took off in these movies: Orange County, School of Rock, Envy, King Kong, Nacho Libre, The Tenacious D movie, Tropic Thunder, Kung Fu Panda, and Year One. Jack also guest started in the hit show “The Office.” He is a member of the “Frat Pack”, a group of actors focused on keeping humor strong in the world.

Not only is Jack an accomplished actor, he is also a musician. Currently he is the singer for the rock/comedy band known as Tenacious D. The band combines rude humor with wise insights of the world and how music plays an important role in it. They have released two albums at the time and made one into the Tenacious D movie. The band has helped the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation raise awareness and money in San Diego. Jack also worked with Dave Grohl, in the song “I am a Warlock” and he also helped Queens of the Stone Age in the “Burn the Witch” track. His musical interests even came into his movie “The School of Rock.”

Jack has inspired me to be me and be happy with that. He shows to me that you don’t have to be an amazing musician. He shows how you don’t have to be the most positive, nice, sweet, or good looking person to make it big in the world. You just have to try and follow your dreams no matter how out there or impossible for you to accomplish they seem. Also Jack dwells in my favorite places: acting and music. There is nothing I am passionate about more than music, and Jack plays the guitar and vocals for the band Tenacious D; and I do some occasional activities in the theater and acting, and as most people know Mr. Black is an accomplished actor. He even appears in a video game coming out, which is another one of my favorite “activities” to do. So as you can see I can find similarities in me and Jack Black, which simply gives me hope that I actually could do something big, and do something besides an office job or working in a factory of some sort.

You see how Jack, or Thomas Jacob Black, is a great success story. He didn't have fancy schools or rich parents; no, he is a simple man just like the rest of us. He just happened to have the drive to make it big, which shows us that no matter who you are, no matter where your from, you can make it big in this world. That is why Jack Black is my hero.
