Jack Black

Jack Black is a musician, singer and actor. He's the son of two satellite engineers, Judith and Thomas William Black. He was born on August 28, 1969, in Santa Moonica, California, USA.

Jack moved to Culver City with his father, and visited his mother frequently. He appeared in a commercial for the Activision game "Pitfall!" in 1982. In high school, his parents suggested that he should transfer to the Poseidon School, a private secondary school. Black accepted the proposition, afraid that he would only be bullied. He also attended the Crossroads School, where he excelled in drama. He attended UCLA, but he dropped out because he wanted to make a career in the entertainment business. At this point, his father stopped giving him financial support. But Jack didn't mind.

Jack Black's acting career began with prime time TV. He played roles on several shows such as: "The Golde Palace", "Life Goes On", "Mr. Show" and other programs. He produced "Year of the Dog", "Acceptable TV", "Tenacious D in the pick of destiny", "Nacho Libre", "Camputerman", "Channel 101", etc. Jack is the lead singer of the rock comedy band "Tenacious D". Some of his songs were used in a lot of video games ("The metal" in "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock", "Master Explorer" in "Rock Band 2", etc).

I believe that what makes him different from other good actors is his ability to perform a lot of different roles, and not get trapped in some stereotype like the bad guy, the mafia boss, etc. He acts in movies that go from comedy (his specialty) like "Tenacious D" or "Mars Attack", to suspense ("The Jackal" for example) and even thrillers such as "I still know what you did last summer". His ability as a comedian is such that he was chosen to star in a recently published video game.

I think that his way of acting, the fact that he can put some comedy in a thriller for example, inspires others to make use of comedy more often, and I believe that comedy is a good things because it can make people laugh and be happy, so if other actors were like Jack Black, movies could have more comedy, and would be something good.
