My dad Justin Bobier was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He was the oldest of three children with a brother Jason and a sister June. His parents, Perry and Donna, decided to move the family to Edmonton when Justin was a young boy. As a teen, my Dad worked with my Grandpa doing construction in the summer. It was in Edmonton where my Dad got his grade twelve education and then went on to NAIT and took Petroleum Engineering Technology. Just before my Dad was going to the United States to get his degree, he met a beautiful woman named Michelle Scarlett and ended up marrying her. When my dad was in grade nine he was proud of himself for achieving the male athlete of the year award.

My mom and dad got married April 14th 1990 in Edmonton Alberta. My mom was working at a law firm and my dad was working at Investors Group. My mom and dad had their first son in 1994 and named him Brandon and then they had Tristin Then Reese, then the youngest of them all and the only daughter Brooklyn. In 1994 my grandpa had an accident that caused my dad to leave Investors Group and help my grandpa run his business. This change of jobs brought my dad back to construction. He helped my grandpa out until he was better and at that time decided to start up his own renovation company. Renovations eventually led my dad to work as a kitchen cabinet installer in Edmonton and later on into Calgary. During this time my mom and dad would renovate their houses then sell them. Finally they built their own house in Edmonton. Once my family moved back to Calgary, my dad continued to work for kitchen cabinets and built two more houses for the family. By this time, our family and friends started to ask my dad to build houses for them. Soon after that my dad had to make a decision to either stay in kitchen cabinets or make his own home building company. In 2004, Crystal Creek Homes was started and my dad still owns it to this day.

My dad still lives in Calgary with our family of six, and is very happy with a good house, a good job, food and family, and he’s grateful for that. My dad has already built lots of houses for people and has two show homes. One of his homes right now is up for the SAM award. In 2007 his show home won a SAM award for best house in all of Alberta. My dad says that the most important thing in his company is to make sure his clients are very happy. In his free time he likes to golf, ski and spend time with his family such as going on a vacation.

My dad is still working hard at Crystal Creek Homes and is planning to own the company for a long time. He hopes that when his sons are older that they will take over the company. I admire how my dad is an honest businessman and treats all people with respect and I hope that I could be that kind of person when I grow up. I chose my dad as my hero because he’s the one that gave me such a good life and he treats me well and made my family a house and bought us food and he loves me very much. I am very grateful for all the things he does for me and my family.
