MY hero is Julio Cesar Chavez Gonzalez SR. He was a professional Mexican boxer. He is 5 ft 7 in tall, his reach is 66 in. Julio fought in three weight classes: super featherweight, lightweight, and light welterweight. Julio was born July 12 1962 in Sonora Mexico Julio's stance is orthodox Julio had 107 wins 86 by KO Julio only lost 6 fights 2 draws a total of 115 fights. Julio is a six time world champion in three weight classes Julio's career spanned over 25 years.
Julio won weight classes like WBC super feather weight in 1984, WBA light weight in 1987, WBC lightweight in 1988, WBC light welterweight in 1990, and WBC light welterweight in 1994. Chavez holds the records for most successful defenses of world titles (27), the most title fight victories (31), the most title fights (37) and he had many more records broken like the largest attendance for a boxing match with 132,274 people at the estadio azteca against Greg Hauge in 1993.
Julio Cesar Chavez was known for his outstanding punching power, devastating body attack, remarkably strong chin, and his relentless stalking on the opponents. on December 7, 2010 he was inducted in the prestigious international boxing hall of fame for class of 2011 he is the father of prospect Omar Chavez a former WBC middle weight champion - Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. life was not always easy for Julio Cesar back in Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. His father worked on the railroad. Julio grew up in an abandoned railroad car with his five sisters and four brothers.
Chavez came from a poor family. He became a boxer for the money not knowing what was ahead. He promised his mother a house she could call her own and she would never have to wash other peoples clothes for a living again. He began boxing at age 16 and then moved to Tijuana to pursue a professional career.
For those reasons I choose him as my hero because his story is motivating to many young Hispanic kids wanting a better life and with hard work all that can come true.
