Captain Cook was the first European to explore Australia. Cook inspired other explorers to explore other countries to live in to see if they were safe to live in. He improved peoples lives by finding a place to live in and named it Australia.
Cook discovered the Great Barrier Reef. He was an explorer and military leader. James Cook eventually joined the British navy and at the age 29 he was promoted to ships master. He also discovered New Zealand. Cook's voyage help guide generations of explorers and provided the first accurate map of the Pacific. After his return to England, Cook was chosen to explore Antarctica. Cook's ship was called the Endeavour.
Cook is famous for discovering the Great Barrier Reef and Australia and New Zealand.
