My hero is John Cooper, lead singer for Skillet. He used to play in a band called Seraph.  He created Skillet in 1996 with Ken Sterots.   They had both been in previous bands.  Their Pastor encouraged them to start a new band.  They stared Skillet as a "side project", but within a month they had a big Christian record company looking at them. John Cooper was born in Memphis Tennessee April 7th 1975. John Cooper was raised in a religious  family but he and his family were not allowed to listen to music that had drums or guitar. They were not allowed to have long hair. He is married to Korey Cooper. She also is in the band. She is the keyboardist and guitarist.

Other than singing he plays the guitar the piano and bass guitar. John Cooper makes the sound track for Transformers Dark of the Moon. He sings in Toby Macs song"Tonight".  He co-wrote the song Best I Can with Decyfer Down.  One of my favorite songs that Skillet plays is "Monster".

They have two children. They had said that they didn't want children because they wouldn't raise their kids on the road, but God came to John and told him that they were to have children.

His pet peeves are getting wet and seeing people's feet. That's why he wears tennis shoes to the beach. Often you can see him drinking Dr. Pepper because he loves it. He also likes 80s hair bands.

His music helps me a better person of Christ and telling me how to live. His music speaks to me and how what he's been through helps me as a person like how he couldn't wear black, he couldn't have long hair, he couldn't listen to music that has drums and guitar helps me go on in life.
