I am 9 years old. And my name is Emma. Jean Michel Cousteau is my hero. He learned to swim at a young age. He was thrown overboard by his father Jacques. He and his family dove in that world off his father's boat. Jean Michel had his first experience of scuba diving. He discovered that albatrosses were eating cigarette lighters and plastic toys. Jean Michel Cousteau formed Ocean Futures Society in 1999.
One of his programs for children is the ambassadors of the environment. Jean Michel and his crew created this program that takes place in nature. Students are introduced to the wonders of nature around them and the things that live there through skin diving excursions, hikes slides shows followed by discussion. Different kinds of animals live in a particular type of environment such as wetlands, plains, deserts and forests. I think he's a hero to me. I love when he talks about the ocean and saving it. He is very interesting. I read about him a lot.
He taught me a lot about the ocean. He helps kids learn about the ocean. When I was little and I went to the beach I was scared of the seaweed and rocks that were in the water. I'm not anymore.
