Jane Goodall

by Wesley R from DuBois

Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.

In honor of Jane Goodall, I did research about this hero in “Biography Today.” I chose Jane Goodall because she helped discover many fascinating things about chimpanzees. After the research, I was glad I did because I learned so much about her.

Who knew such a normal beginning would give the world such a hero? Jane Goodall was born on April 3, 1934, in London, England. Her father is named Mortimer Herbert Morris-Goodall, and her mother is named Myfanwe Joseph Goodall. Her first husband was Hugo van Lawick. They had one son named Hugo. They divorced, and then she married Derek Bryceson. Today she is still living.

The foundation of heroism is education. For her schooling, Jane Goodall went to England’s Cambridge University and became the eighth student in the history of the school to earn a doctoral degree without a bachelor’s degree from a four year college. She was also enrolled in a secretarial training program in London.

Hard work contributes to heroism. Jane Goodall is famous for many great discoveries in her career such as finding out that chimpanzees eat meat in their diet. She also found out that they hunt in groups to catch their prey. Also, she discovered that they create and use tools to help them with tasks and also chimpanzees sometimes wage war against each other. One interesting piece of information is that when she was in Africa, Jane was almost captured by rebel soldiers.

Jane Goodall is important to mankind and changed the world. Jane Goodall changed the world because she dedicated her life and time to help animals, especially chimpanzees, and also worked very hard to help keep animals safe from poachers. She faced many dangers such as escaping from rebel soldiers in Africa, and I just think that is very heroic. That is why I think that Jane Goodall is a hero.
