I chose Jane Goodall to be my hero because she loves animals, and has been working to save animals for all of her life. She followed her dreams from her childhood, and carried them out to adulthood. Jane Goodall is an exquisite hero that has inspired many people, including me. She was born on April 3, 1934 in London, England. Her family was a middle class British family. she was the older of 2 sisters. Her father was an engineer, and her mom was a successful novelist. Some characteristics of my hero are brave, loyal, honest, caring, thoughtful, responsible and independent. Jane Goodall is my hero because she saved the chimpanzees and organizes youth programs to help the chimpanzees, and for children to follow their dreams.

When Goodall was about two years old her mother gave her a stuffed toy chimpanzee, which Goodall still owns to this day. She was a good student but she had more interest in being outdoors and learning about animals. Once she spent five hours in a hen-house so she could see how a hen lays an egg. She loved animals so much that by the time she was ten or eleven she dreamed of living with animals in Africa. A great problem that Goodall faced during one of her expeditions is that in 1974 what Goodall referred to as a "war" broke out between two groups of chimpanzees. One group eventually killed many members of the other group. Goodall also witnessed a series of acts of infanticide (the killing of an infant) on the part of one of the older female chimps. These appearances of the darker side of chimpanzee behavior forced her to adjust her interpretation of these animals as being basically gentle and peace loving.

Jane Goodall truly made a difference in my life when I heard all of the things that she did to make a difference in something that she believed in. she made a difference in her mother's life when she stood up for what she believed in. She followed her dreams from when she was a child. Jane Goodall is considered to be a hero in my eyes because in 1977, Goodall established the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), which supports the Gombe Research, and she is a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats. With nineteen offices around the world, the JGI is very recognized for innovative conservation and development programs all around Africa. Its global youth program, Roots & Shoots, began in 1991 when a group of 16 local teenagers met with Goodall on her back porch in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. They were eager to discuss a range of problems they knew about from first-hand experience that caused them deep concern.

Jane Goodall inspired me to follow my dreams just like she did. Because of her, I love animals even more. To me Jane Goodall is an exquisite hero that inspired many people around the world, including me.
