Johannes Gutenberg was born in 1398 in Mainz and he died in 1468. If you don't know who Johannes Gutenberg is? He is the one who invented the printing press at that time. In China there were some people that invented it too. He, I guess if you want to say, he was the first, or one of the first. He began to work on it in 1440 and set up a printing business. By 1456 he had produced the first printed Bible in 1462 Mainz was involved in a local feud. People used his invention every day all over the world. Because of the printing press back then people thought now they can learn, now that they can read books and other things. Not just the priest can learn, now they can.

He is taking after his dad because his dad was a goldsmith and he was a goldsmith too, just like his dad was. He was the first to use movable printing. His full name was Johannes Gensfleish zur Laden zum Gutenberg. When he passed away he was 70 years old. When he started his first printing business he was 42 years old. I hope now you know a little more about Johannes Gutenberg. When you think of a printing press or see one you can think of this and of him. When he started the first printing bible in 1456 he was 56 years old. When Mainz involved him in the local feud in 1462 he was 64 years old. Johannes Gutenberg had no kids or he was never married.
