My hero is John Lennon. John Lennon had gained world fame in the 1960’s as one the most famous singers, composers, in one of the most accomplished bands of all time, The Beatles. He was also a peace activist. John Lennon was one of the most successful influential leaders. John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England, in the United Kingdom; his parents were Julie Lennon and Alfred Lennon. The Beatles were an English rock band from Liverpool U.K. who were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The Beatles were the most successful band the world has ever known. They took their most famous picture and named their most famous album Abby Road.

What made John Lennon a hero is that his music influenced so many people. He had gone to many countries and had successfully brought world peace. He was one of the founders of the famous Beatles. After the Beatles had split up, John Lennon had a successful solo career. John Lennon & the Beatles influenced many people by expressing their opinions through their music and also through his solo career too. He and the Beatles sang many of their songs about bringing peace like “Revolution” and many others like his solo song with his wife Yoko “Give peace a chance”.

After the Beatles officially split in 1970, John Lennon went and started a solo career. He and his wife Yoko Ono moved to New York in 1971. He and his wife Yoko Ono were both anti-war peace activists. On the day of their honeymoon at the Amsterdam Hilton they did their “Bed in for Peace” on 1969. What they did is that they showed everyone that they were to bring peace for 7 days. In their second “Bed in Peace” on June 1969 they recorded their peace song “Give Peace a Chance” in the hotel that they were staying at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Also John Lennon recorded on of his “peace” songs as well called “Come Together”.

In 1972 President Nixon and his administration tried to deport John Lennon from the US. Richard Nixon didn’t really appreciate Lennon’s anti-war peace movement and Lennon’s support from George McGovern because he thought it would cost him re-election. In 1976 John Lennon recorded “cooking” [in the kitchen] with former Beatle Ringo Starr. Then in 1980 John and his wife Yoko Ono went back to New York to get started on a new album “Double Fantasy”. As the months passed John and his wife Yoko Ono were finishing his final album. On December 8, 1980, John Lennon was shot four times in the back by Mark David Chapman near the entrance of the Dakota apartment building. Just hours before, Mark had asked John Lennon to sign his album. Mark David Chapman was stalking him. This was a tragic day for Yoko Ono.

John Lennon was a legendary peacemaker and one of the best song writers of all time. And he was in the best band ever, the “The Beatles”. How John Lennon inspired me by being a composer isn't hard at all. And my second reason is very easy. It is that he influenced me by trying to bring peace to the world.
