John Lennon

Inspirational, creative, dedicated, hopeful, and caring all these words describe heroes. A hero doesn't have to be Superman or Batman. A hero is just an ordinary person doing un-ordinary things. Anybody can be a hero, but it takes lots of dedication.

John Winston Lennon(1940-1980)was a singer, guitarist, and song writer. Lennon was one of the founding members of the Beatles. Lennon was in many other bands. Some of those bands were The Quarrymen, Plastic Ono Band, The Dirty Mac, and Yoko Ono. Born and raised in Liverpool England, Lennon's first band was The Quarrymen which evolved into the Beatles. The Quarrymen is how Lennon met Paul McCartney, another Beatles member.

As a teen, Lennon showed no educational ambition other than musical. Lennon ended up living with his aunt Mimi. Lennon at one point said "Part of me would like to be accepted by all facets of society and not be this loudmouthed lunatic musician. But I cannot be what I am not. Because of my attitude, all the other boys' parents ... instinctively recognized what I was, which was a troublemaker, meaning I did not conform and I would influence their kids, which I did. ... I did my best to disrupt every friend's home ... Partly, maybe, it was out of envy that I didn't have this so-called home, but I really did ... There were five women who were my family. Five strong, intelligent women. Five sisters. Those women were fantastic ... that was my first feminist education ... One happened to be my mother ... she just couldn't deal with life. She had a husband who ran away to sea and the war was on and she couldn't cope with me, and when I was four-and-a-half, I ended up living with her elder sister ... the fact that I wasn't with my parents made me see that parents are not gods."

Lennon is my hero because he was a guy who fought against war, but he fought with words. Lennon didn't just fight with words but music. Yes Lennon incorporated his life in his songs. I also admire Lennon because he is the one who inspired me to be a musician . I wouldn't exactly want to be Lennon, because I like my life the way it is. And because, like me, Lennon is different from me, but I still admire him.

Heroes aren't just buff people in tights. Heroes are ordinary people do un-ordinary things. Being a hero takes time and dedication.
