Juliette Gordon Low

"The work of today is the history of tomorrow, and we are its makers." -- Juliette Gordon Low
This quote was said by the famous Juliette Gordon Low, also known as the founder of the Girl Scouts. She is very dear to my heart, because I, myself, am a Girl Scout ever since I was young. I'm proud to be one, because Juliette Low proved that girls should be able to all the things that the Boy Scouts can do and even more.
Juliette Gordon Low was born on October 31, 1860 in Savannah, Georgia. Her Parents were Eleanor and William Gordon the II. She had 2 nicknames, Little Ship on Full Sail and Daisy. She grew up in Savannah and went to several boarding schools. Her hobbies were going on adventures, hunting, and fishing. Juliette Low went to Virginia for college at Stuart Hall. She married William Billow on December 29, 1886 at the age of 26, on her parent's wedding anniversary! They never had any children.
Juliette Low is most famous because she was the founder of Girl Scouts. Sir Robert Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts, helped her by giving suggestions for solving any problems in creating Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts started out being called Girl Guides and was changed to Girl Scouts a year later. Juliette Low founded Girl Scouts, so the girls in her town would stop sneaking into Boy Scouts! Her contribution to society was to create to have fun and help the world be a better place for all to live. On October 28, 1979 Juliette was put in the Women's Hall of Fame. Sadly Juliette died in Savannah, Georgia on January 17, 1927 in her home because of Tuberculosis.
Juliette Low is one of the best people to ever walk the Earth. To me she is the best for her amazing contribution to help the world. I have always wanted to become a Girl Scout Leader like my mother and like Juliette Gordon Low. My hero has gone down in history for what she has done for the world.
