Jimmy Robbins is just eighteen years old and he already has been through a lot. He lost his mother at a very young age. Born and raised in North Carolina, he first started writing songs at just eleven, and played in a talent show at his school when he was twelve. By the time he was fourteen, he was writing, recording, and posting songs on Myspace under the band name Too Sorry for Apologies. Today, four years later, he now has over 78500 fans on Myspace. He recently signed a recording contract with Universal Motown Records and is recording his second CD.
When asked what his inspiration for starting to write music was Jimmy said, "A lot of bad things happened with my family when I was younger. I’m not really good at talking about things and you can’t keep things in forever, so eventually it found its way out through music." He has been played on the radio with his song "Step One" and he toured last summer for a few months with The Scene Aesthetic. If he wasn’t a musician, he would have liked to teach middle-school English.
Jimmy’s fans love him because he isn’t super-famous yet, and still finds time to talk and interact with people. He gives out his instant-message screen name and will actually have conversations with people. I love almost all of the songs that Jimmy has written. His song "Breathe Again" is one of my favorites, it is really full of emotion. The song was written for one of his friends who was going through a tough time in her life. Whenever I’m in a bad mood, all I have to do is listen to Jimmy’s music and it makes me feel better. Jimmy Robbins is my hero because he cares about people, and he tries to make a difference in their lives through music.
