I first became aware of James when I was bored at the library one day browsing books when one caught my eye. Being an avid reader, I’ve already read all the books I could possibly find interest in over my years at Newhart. It was a recently donated book ICE HUNT. I picked it up read the back of the paperback cover and was instantly hooked. I couldn’t get to the checkout counter fast enough. He also wrote the SIGMA series along with many stand alone books EXCAVATION, DEEP FATHOM, AMAZONIA, SUBTERRANEAN, ALTAR OF EDEN and he also wrote the new Indiana Jones book, not the movie [thankfully]

James Rollins is an active traveler. He travels the globe exploring new settings for his books, writing as he goes. Deciding to go into writing as a career, as a boy inspired by the adventures of Doc Savage and the wonders by H.G. Wells, he mastered his storytelling skills early, spinning elaborate short stories that were used in pranking his brothers and sisters. He is an active hiker, spelunker, diver, parasailer, mariner, and all in all traveler but he has a house with his family and 2 dogs in Northern California.

Although his talent emerged and grew, writing was not James' original occupation. He started out at a veterinary clinic. Emerging out of the university of Missouri he established his own clinic in Sacramento Valley. His hands on knowledge of medicine and science led to his research and scientific speculation that sets his books apart from other modern fiction writers.

James is currently the vice president of International Thrill Writer's Inc, a group of writers and luminaries dedicated to keeping the thriller genre alive. He has books translated to 36 countries and bestselling novels and most his books have inspired the world to explore the unexplored. He also contributes to spreading modern culture through his books by weaving stories with fact mixed with fiction, present and past with some future also. His books are a reason for kids in other countries to learn new languages and read.

Though I might not become a writer, I hope to travel the world someday then settle down with artifacts from all over the globe. Writing is fun. I might be a journalist or fiction writer on the side but I doubt I'll make it big or be able to live off my book sales and not have to work. My ideal job would be traveling writer. I wouldn’t have to worry about money, I could see the world, learn new things, meet new people, explore the unexplored. My high school goals are really do my best, possibly join the marines or something after. If I do go to college probably go for a degree in literature.
