J.K. ROWLING is known a few things a mother, an author, but is not known as a hero to many people. J.K. ROWLING is not a hero to me because of the quality of her books but the hardship it took her to write the book. There are three words to describe how she overcame those hardships; those words are persistence, patience, and determination.

There are many ways J.K. Rowling could fit into these three categories, here's the story with all three. In 1991 J.K. Rowling began writing Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, later renamed Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. Around 1993 Rowling got married and gave birth to her daughter Jessica, soon after she and her husband got a divorce. Rowling then moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to be close t her sister Di. During that time Rowling lived in a state of almost poverty. But despite her financial troubles, she continued writing her novel. In fact, not only was she determined to finish the book, she was also determined to get it published. Rowling usually wrote in restaurants and diners, so she had a warm place to write. Rowling requested a grant from a Scottish art council to finish her novel, which she later received. After she finished her novel, she attempted to sell it to a publisher, and after several rejections she sold it to Bloomsberry for $4,000, her book was later published in 1997. After that she took a job as a French teacher, but later quit, when scholastic press bought the American rights to Harry Potter. Rowling decided to write as a full time job. These are some of the reasons that J.K. Rowling fits the criteria to be my hero.

That is why J.K Rowling is my hero. Even though she doesn't fight crime, she is my hero because my definition of a hero is someone who is a role model, and doesn't give up.
