"Before I ever put anything on paper, Jerry and I would talk back and forth."
- Joe Shuster.
Joe Shuster was born on July 10, 1914, in Toronto. The only family members he had was his mother, his father, his sister, and cousins. When he was 10 years old, he and his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he met Jerry Siegel. When they were teenagers, they sketched a picture of a superhero which is now Superman. When Joe was only 14, he published his first science fiction fanzine in 1929. Joe Shuster was influenced by "Wash Tubbs" Ray Crane. Through 1947 they completed their first comic book.
Joe Shuster did fail to do a comic called Funnyman, but that never stopped him until he left comic book writing due to blindness. When he was only partially blind, instead of comic books, he worked as a deliveryman. By 1976, he was near full blindness and lived in a nursing home.
Joe Shuster accomplished completing many amazing comic books, and even had an award made for him called the "Joe Shuster Award". He has won many awards like having him in the "Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame", and the "Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Hall of Fame". DC Comics named Shuster as one of the honorees for the company's 50th anniversary and named it "Fifty who Made DC Great", and in honor of him, they made the "Joe Shuster Way" in the streets of Toronto.
The character traits my hero displays is respecting peoples likes and dislikes about his comics and creates many unusual characters that are used in his comics that will most definitely amaze the readers. Joe Shuster is an inspiration to me because he tells us to follow our dreams just like him, and to always to be creative.
