This summer something very tragic happened, there were four great guys in a horrible car accident. These four guys were in Montana to minister the Word of God. They were caught in the hands of death when somehow the car flipped several times. Mile marker 294 was the sight of the disaster that the oldest brother Dan quoted as the “beautiful tragedy.” Jeremy Vangsnes became my hero. He was in a coma when he was flown to Billings, and the nurses and doctors said there was no hope. Jeremy proved them all wrong though he has a long road of recovery, he is still alive and progressing. God is showing us that. Their mission this summer was to minister to people in Montana, but really they have ministered to the world.

Jeremy Vangsnes was, is and will always be an amazing leader. Dan Vangsnes wrote a letter to everyone on October 21, 2009 he said “Today marks the third month since I was lying in the middle of that cruel Montana highway fighting to stay alive. Today marks the third month since Scott Minear was pinned in the mangled jeep and escaped deaths grip. Today marks the third month since Ryan leaped from the wreckage in order to comfort me in my darkest hour. And today marks three months since Jeremy was pronounced dead on mile marker 294.” “Jeremy wasn’t even supposed to live through the ambulance ride to the hospital, but God had different plans for him.” He has so much strength and trust in God.

Jeremy has made a huge impact on my life because, before he was in the wreck he was changing peoples lives, but even more after. He is amazing because even when a lot of people were losing hope in him God gave him the strength to prove he is still there. The three guys who were in the accident besides him were his two brothers Ryan, Dan and his good friend, Scott Minear. October 21, 2009 was the first day they were all together since the tragedy. Something amazing happened “The first thing that Scott did was kneel beside Jeremy’s bed to comfort and pray with him.”... “Soon Jeremy’s head began to slowly rise and his eyes began to track. Scott voiced these words, ‘Jeremy today marks three months since the accident. It took Christ three days to rise from the dead. Jeremy you too will rise you are showing us that.’” Dan wrote later in the letter. “All of a sudden he began to breathe heavier and then he looked Scott directly in the eyes. None of us were prepared for what was about to happen. Jeremy mustered up every ounce of strength he had in his being and uttered these words. ‘HI SCOTT!’”
Jeremy is such a strong and inspiring individual. He has shown me to never back down, always stand up for what I believe in, and to stand strong. But most of all to keep my faith because God is amazing! Jeremy is a hero to me because of his strength, perseverance, and love for God. He will never stop shining his light, and he will never give up! The last and I believe most powerful thing his brother said was “Sleep well Jeremy, an army of believers who have FAITH are standing by your bedside suffering with you.” The two verses that remind me most of this summer are “Mathew 11:28, Come to me all who are weary and I shall give you rest.” and “Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” So Jeremy is a wonderful leader in my eyes, he is an amazing influence on me and I will never forget him.
