This is a picture of John Walsh (http://www.events.wvu.edu/foi/2003/walsh/picture.jpg) |
John Walsh was born on December 26, 1945 in Auburn, New York. John had an independent streak for a teen. He later settled down, got married and had a son named Adam. When Adam was six years old, in 1981, he went missing in a department store and was later found to have been murdered.
About three year's later John and his wife, Reve, started a hotline number that was 1-800-THE-LOST. In 1986 NBC created a movie called Adam The sequel, Adam: His Song Continues. 1988 struck and John Walsh started a show called America's Most Wanted. The show soon was ranked one of the five longest running prime-time series.

In 1988, he won an award for the U.S. Marshal's Man Of The Year, and then again two years later from the FBI. John was also honored again in the Rose Garden four times by three presidents (Reagan, Clinton and Bush) for the Special Recognition Award. Wouldn't that be nice to have that many awards?
In 1997, John Walsh published a book called Tears of Rage: From Grieving Father to Crusader For Justice: The Untold Story of the Adam Walsh Case and it was a best-selling book. A year later John published another book called No Mercy. His first Emmy award was for something called Street Smart Kids which was a labor of love produced by Fox.

John Walsh is my hero because he offers to give up so much of his own time to rescue children that are missing or lost. He also helps parents to once again spend time with their children since they have been missing for such a long time. I just want to say thank you to John Walsh for working to rescue children of all ages.
