Jackie Chan was born in Victoria Peak, Hong Kong, to a very poor family. He was a very large baby, weighing 12 pounds. When he was young he attended Nah-Hwa Primary School, but failed the first year, so his family took him out. In 1960, his family moved to Canberra, Australia so his dad could work as a cook for the American embassy.

c He worked in the school for a decade and would occasionally appear in small roles in movies like Big and Little Wong Tin Bar, The Love Eterne, King Hu's, and Come Drink with me. He worked as a stuntman in Fist of Fury and Enter the Dragon when he was only 17. He preformed his own stunts and didn't have stunt doubles. In fact he holds the world record for "Most Stunts By a Living Actor." He had his first starring role in Little Tiger of Canton. Over his entire career, he has appeared in over 100 films worldwide. He even has sung some of his own theme songs. He even sang in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics closing ceremony.

In the movie industry, he made his first Hollywood film was called Battle Creek Brawl in 1980. He also played a minor role in the hit film Cannonball Run in 1981. Other movies he was in were The Young Master in 1980, The Dragon Lord in 1983. Some of the comedy films he played in were Project A, Wheels on Meals, and Lucky Stars. He even was the voice of the "Master Monkey" in the 2008 comedy cartoon Kung Fu Panda. He also made Police Story in 1985 which was named "Best Movie" in the 1986 Hong Kong film Awards. In 1987, he played "Asian Hawk" in the film Armor of God. He released his final film called Who Am I? in 1998. He also helped create the Playstation game Jackie Chan Stuntmaster in the year 2000.

The Dragon Heart Foundation was founded by Jackie Chan in 2005 to help the needs of children and the elderly in remote areas in China. Since it has opened, it has built over a dozen schools and provided them with books, fees, uniforms, and other items needed to start a school. To add to that, the foundation has also raised millions of dollars for educational opportunities for the poor. It has also provided the elderly with warm clothing, wheelchairs, and other needed items. Chan often travels to these remote locations or school openings to give the people there support and encouragement.

I chose Jackie Chan as my hero because he went through poverty and ended up really successful because he tried hard and trained hard. When his dad became the head cook, they had a little more money, so it wasn't as bad, but he still had to leave behind his old friends. He was a great actor, stunt performer, singer, acrobat, and martial artist because of all his training. Even after his rough childhood, he wanted to help others, and started a charity. He cared a lot about children's education and about the poor elderly. That is why my hero is Jackie Chan.
