What comes to your mind when you hear “Jennie Finch”? I think of an amazing U.S.A. national softball pitcher, who is very helpful and kind. Jennie Finch was born on September 3, 1980. Jennie Finch is a hero to me because she is an amazing softball player and she is very thoughtful and successful. Finch plays pitcher and sometimes first base. She founded a charity called the Breast Cancer research Foundation. Now she is regarded as the most famous softball player of all time.
Finch has been playing softball since she was five years old and has been pitching since she was eight. Finch played softball for the University of Arizona. She was a three-time All-American pitcher and first-baseman. Her dad has been her pitching coach for most of her career. Ali Fronzen was her first pitching coach and he taught her 7 different pitches: fastball, changeup, dropball, screwball, curveball, riseball, and offspeed. Finch still pitches the same balls today. She was named the NPF's Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2005, sharing the award with teammate Lauren Bay. Her husband Casey Daigle was the pitcher for the Houston Astros. Together they had a son named Ace Shane Daigle on May 4, 2006.
Jennie Finch founded the Breast Cancer Foundation because she lost a close friend to breast cancer and one of her family members fought against breast cancer. By having her own charity Finch believes she can do anything to help people. Jennie isn’t just a hero for helping other people. She is also my hero because she is an awesome softball player and cares about everyone. Finch struck out a total of 1,028 batters and was the 23rd most at the time, was an Olympic gold medalist in 2004 and a silver medalist in 2008. Finch was award the "Honda Award” winner for the Player of the Year as a member of the Wildcat softball team.
Jennie Finch has inspired thousands of children including me, and those who don’t play softball, Finch’s dream of becoming an Olympic athlete came true. Now she has encouraged other to follow their dreams. “Never limit yourself, never be satisfied, and smile-it's free!” She had founded the breast cancer foundation, which means to me that she is an awesome softball player and has a generous heart that she opens out to everyone. Jennie has inspired me to keep on becoming a better softball player.
