| Jackie Robinson and Branch Rickey |
Jackie Robinson is an incredible hero that I just learned about recently. I would like to share some things I have learned about his life, heroic deeds, and my thoughts about them. I am certain you will learn a lot about my hero.
Mr. Robinson had a challenging life. In Pasadena, California, Jackie Robinson was raised. At a later age, Jackie met a person named Branch Rickey, the president of the Brooklyn Dodgers. In a legendary meeting, Rickey shouted insult after insult at Jackie to see how long Jackie could hold his temper before letting loose.
Robinson accomplished many heroic deeds. He was the first black person to play in the National Baseball League. When he played with the Dodgers, he played very well. Though he was not treated well, he played expertly in the major leagues. When Jackie was playing his first season with the Dodgers, he won with his team by setting them on fire.
I have had some meaningful thoughts about what Jackie Robinson has done. I wonder how he endured all the threats people sent to him. I couldn't believe that in his time, black people could never play in the major leagues no matter how good they were. I was impressed by this proud man and fierce competitor.
As you have read, Jackie Robinson had a challenging life full of heroic deeds that have made me think he is truly a hero.
