My Hero that inspires me is the one and only Jackie Robinson. He was an African American. He was the first African American to play in the big leagues in the modern era. As a little boy he wasn’t treated the same as the other boys because of the color off his skin. He had a big passion for playing baseball. He had dreams off playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. His mother was always supportive so he never had any doubts about making it to the big league.
Jackie did something amazing. He fought for the right for African Americans to play pro baseball. But he didn’t get there easily. Many Americans didn’t want for African Americans to play but Jackie didn’t let that stop him. Jackie was always dedicated for his people to play. Jackie played for 10 years not including minor league. Six of those years he lead the Brooklyn Dodgers to the World Series. He signed with the Dodgers in 1945. In 1947 he was named NL rookie of the year. Jackie was the first black player to be inducted into the MLB Hall Of Fame.
Jackie Robinson's childhood was both exciting and difficult. His father abandoned him soon after he was born. He went to UCLA and is in all around athlete. When Jackie was with the Dodgers he wasn’t allowed to argue because he was black. But Jackie didn’t have to argue any bad call the blue made. He had to go along with because there was nothing he could do. Jackie proved that skin color doesn’t matter intelligence talent and courage matters. As years past on Jackie had more freedom he had the equal rights as every body else in the diamond but not every body gave the respect that he needed.
Jackie was always good in baseball he would never give up in his dream. But many people wanted to crush his dreams many people didn’t want for Jackie to get far. Jackie was also one of the best baseball players of all time. He never gave up and never let anybody tell him that he was not good enough to play. But Jackie proved everybody wrong. Jackie was a slugger when he came up to bat.
In conclusion, Jackie was always dedicated to playing baseball and to send a message to all, that one person can make a difference on a team. And that if you push yourself hard enough, you can accomplish something, something big like Jackie Robinson did. And that’s my hero. That’s who I always followed and admired. And now I’m starting to play baseball and I got there by pushing myself and never giving up.
