My hero is not the typical hero that flies form one building to another saving people or killing the criminals. My hero started being a surfer but some years later he chose to be a musician. He is someone who loves nature and loves to protect it. I’ve got to know him by his music. My hero is Jack Johnson.

Jack Hody Johnson was born on May 18th, 1975 in Hawaii, where he still lives today, in Oahu Island on the north coast. When he was young he loved surfing and even became a professional surfer. But in the year 2000 he started preparing his first music album named Brushfire Fairytales, which came out during 2001. Nowadays he keeps on playing music and he is preparing his fifth album named “Sleeping Through The Static”. His music genre is best described as an acoustic soft rock. His songs tell that Hawaii will stay beautiful and amazing only if we take care of it. He is also a film director and directed a film named “Thicker than Water”, which is about surf. Obviously, he is not a hero for these reasons but because of his contributions on different fund raising events.

Jack has raised a lot of money for the Red Cross after hurricane Katrina. In 2004, Jack co-funded the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, which is an organization that supports environmental education in the schools and communities in Hawaii. He goes to different schools and teaches kids about the tough situation the world is going through. He produces songs to teach the children in different ways.

I think Jack is a great person who really cares about the world that, we humans, are destroying. He is a role model and he is very smart and courageous. I wish people would think like Jack and realize the world is in danger.
