My hero Jane Goodall
A hero is someone that does something nice for someone or something. A hero doesn’t have a cape or have superpowers. Anyone could be a hero if they try hard. I’m going to explain what it means to be a hero. She’s cool so read with a smile.
My hero is Jane Goodall, the world’s foremost chimpanzee researcher. When Goodall was doing research she found out what was going on in Africa. The chimpanzees were going to be extinct. Goodall was born in April 3, 1934 in London, England. In 1939 her family moved to France. She moved back because Hitler was attacking in Europe. When she was young, she got a chimpanzee stuffed animal. That’s probably why she got attached to them at such a young age. Her girlhood was filled with animals. She didn’t only like chimps, she liked other animals, too, but chimps were her favorite.
She studied chimps for many years, but the chimps finally accepted her when they let her hold the baby. It took her nine months to get close to them. She didn’t follow them; she let them go, she didn’t want them to feel under attack. When she was at Gombe they wouldn’t let her get within 50 yards. She was getting discouraged about the research. At the time it was her first time doing research.
When Jane was in her tent there was chimp yelling for a banana. That was her chance to get close to him, and she did get close but every time she got close, it moved back then he finally ran off. She never gave up though. She stuck with the chimps even when no one cared. She was determined to never to give up. She travels 300 days a year. Her mom was very supportive. The bond between chimp’s mothers and offspring is powerfully loving. She also knows that chimps hunt for pigs and other big-sized animals. She writes many books about them. Goodall writes kids books and adult books.

Chimps DNA is 99 percent the same as human DNA. Jane always knew what the chimps were trying to say by the faces they would make. She worked with a man named Dr. Louis Leaky. In 2002, she was named a Untied Nations messenger of peace. Jane was also awarded having such a good understanding about chimps. Though her favorite move was Tarzan. Goodall inspires a lot of people. She inspired me to write this story because of who she is and what she became. This is why she’s my hero.
