Jessie De La Cruz was born in 1919, in Anaheim, California. She was the daughter of Guadalupe Lopez who was born 1898. At the age of 21, Guadalupe had Jessie, who was the oldest of three daughters. Jessie had to work really hard as she grew up. Jessie worked hard to help her family and didn't want others to suffer the way she did. She wanted kids to grow up and go to schools so that they could get a good education and get good careers. I see Jessie De La Cruz as a very thoughtful, courageous, and a type of woman that had lots of perseverance.

To me, Jessie De La Cruz is thoughtful because she didn't want other people to suffer like she did. She thought that other kids should not suffer like her, but get good education so that with their careers they wouldn't have to worry about having to wake up early to go grow crops in the field each and every single day of their lives. Jessie De La Cruz was thoughtful because instead of saying, I wish I wasn't here," she would think, "How can I make a difference for other people?"

Not only was Jessie De La Cruz thoughtful, but also she was also courageous. She was courageous because her being a woman and not having the same rights as the men or even having less rights, she decided to put her foot down and take a stand. Jessie De La Cruz was told many times that she would never make it and not to fight because she would get in trouble. Jessie would simply respond, "What could be worst than what I am suffering now?"

Jessie De La Cruz was a woman who had a lot of perseverance. I say she had lots of perseverance because no matter what the people would say, including her own family, she would never give up. Jessie knew that what she was doing was right and she also knew that if she didn't do anything she would always have it in her.
