My hero is arguably one of the best to ever play in the NBA. He was born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn New York, and moved to Wilmington, North Carolina as a toddler. He was the second youngest out of five children. Most don’t know he was a three sport man. As a child he liked to play baseball and football as well as basketball.
Ironically, Michael Jeffrey Jordan was cut from his high school team as a sophomore. Instead of giving up, this drove him to work even harder. he later went on to make the team and lead his high school team to a state championship. He then went on to get a scholarship to North Carolina University where he excelled as a freshman, scoring the game winning shot his freshman year, resulting in a national championship. As a senior, MJ received the Naismith award as the best college basketball player in the nation. Michael then went on to leave the Tar Heels and get drafted third overall by the Chicago Bulls. There, he won 6 NBA championships, 10 scoring titles, and won 2 dunk contests.
He impacted my life greatly, by providing a great example to look up to. He overcame great diversity and never gave up. That’s why I want to be like Mike.
