Juanes

by Chelsea from Edmonton

Juan Esteban Aristizabal Vasquez was born August 9th 1972 in Medellin, Colombia. He is well known as Juanes, a Hispanic musician. His love of music of music came from his dad. One day his dad and his brother taught Juanes how to play the guitar and he instantly knew he wanted to become a musician.

For being 37 years old, Juanes has accomplished so many things. He made a free concert for peace on the border line of Venezuela and Colombia in 2008. He showed that everyone must love each other and must stop violence. Another reason for this was some men took some other people for hostage. He also made another concert for peace in 2009. This time it was in Cuba. He made this concert because since Cuba is a communist country he believed that everyone should listen to music no matter what race, country, or belief you’re in. Another one of his big accomplishments is that he established the Mi Sangre Foundation which helps people with anti personnel mines. His other huge accomplishment is just being a singer. He proves if you believe in anything, you just go for it and follow your dream. Juanes did that, and now he is the most successful Hispanic musician.

I choose Juanes because I think he is generous, strong and has a good heart. I also enjoy his music. He relates to me because I’m Spanish just like him. Juanes also relates to me because I like helping out people in the world and to see someone do two concerts for peace is pretty incredible.
