Keisha Castle-Hughes

Keisha was born in Western Australia, but grew up in New Zealand. She dreamed of becoming an actress but knew it would be hard work, then later on in 2001 when she was 11 a casting director came to town looking for a girl to play a role on a fairy-tale-like scenario. She ended up being awarded and getting the role. The role was to play Pai in the movie “Whale Rider”. Three years later she found herself sitting in the front row of the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California, at the 76th annual Academy Awards ceremony. She was the youngest ever to earn a nomination for best actress. Keisha has also starred in “Star wars episode Ⅲ: Revenge of the Sith.

My hero is an actress. she was on the set of Whale-Rider and played Paikea Apirana. She had to learn to swim because before that she could not. My Hero is important to me because I like to inspire people and she has inspired many. My hero has inspired me and many others and also has great acting skills, but it is not her acting skills that makes her my hero. It is her inspiration and dedication to her life and acting that makes her my hero.
