Kobe Bean Bryant is a world-famous professional basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association, NBA. He was born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Kobe was born the youngest out of three siblings. When he was young, he started to play basketball and soccer. At the time he was a senior at Naismith High School, Bryant was named “Best Player of the Year”, “Gatorade Men’s National Basketball Player of the Year”, “Macdonald’s All-American Player of the Year”, “USA Today First Team Player”. After attending high school, Bryant decided to join the NBA. Kobe’s father, Joe “Jellybean” Bryant was also an NBA player. On April 18, 2001, Kobe and Vanessa Laine were married. Their first child, Natalia Diamante Bryant, was born on January 19, 2003. Their second child, Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant was born on May 1, 2006.

Kobe Bryant has many lasting achievements. His basketball career started in 1996. Kobe led the NBA in scoring during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons. In 2006, Bryant was labeled for having the second highest number of points in a game in NBA history. Bryant was awarded the seasons “Most Valuable Player”, MVP, in the 2007-2008 seasons. In the 2008 Summer Olympics, he won a gold medal as a member of the U.S Men’s Basketball Team. Bryant has been elected to eleven “All-NBA Team” and nine “All-Defensive Team”. He also won “All Star MVP” awards in 2002, 2007, and 2009. Lastly, Bryant won the “NBA Slam Dunk” contest in 1997.

Kobe Bryant inspired me because I used to like basketball but I wasn’t very good at it. I always used to watch him play on television to seek techniques he used. Every time I watched the NBA with my family, I always hear them cheering at the top of their lungs for Kobe. That was the time I realized that he really was a good player.

Kobe Bryant is still a professional basketball player today. He is playing as number twenty-four for the NBA Lakers. He is living with his family, Vanessa, Natalia, and Gianna. Bryant stands six feet and six inches tall, and weighs 205 pounds. His career has been lasting for about thirteen years and hopes to last a couple more. So what is a hero you ask? A hero is someone who has inspired you, someone who you can look up to. Kobe Bean Bryant is my hero because his accomplishments show that you can be whatever you want to be. Kobe Bean Bryant is a true hero that started off a regular high school student to a famous NBA player.
