My Hero Is Kelly Slater. At first he was just a litte kid that had a dream to become the best surfer in the world and now he is one of the best surfers in the whole entire world that ever came to the world of professional surfing. He has won eight world titles and won many many contests.

Not only he is a very good surfer, he is a very good role model to all people around the world. He is a very good example of a true champion.

Kelly was born in a small Florida town called Cocoa Beach on February 11, 1972. His real name is Robert Kelly Slater. Cocoa Beach is where he grew up and learned how to surf. He has an older brother named Sean Slater and younger brother named Stephen Slater. He has a regular foot stance on a surfboard. That means he surfs with his left leg in front and his right leg in the back.

His favorite waves are Sebastian Inlet near his home in Florida, Pipeline in Hawaii, Sandspit in Santa Barbara California, Kirra in Australia, Jeffreys Bay in South Africa, and Soup Bowls in Barbados. His favorite surfers are Tom Carroll, Mark Occhilupo, Tom Curren, Martin Potter, Andy Irons and Shane Dorian. Kelly Slater has a daughter named Taylor but he is not married.

In 2003 he released an autobiography called Pipe Dreams. Kelly Slater is passionate about preserving oceans globally and protecting temperate reefs in California through his relationship with Reef Check.
