Lucian Adams was a great man. He was a staff sergeant in the marine corps during WWII. Lucian received many awards during his time in WWII such as the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and most Importantly the Medal of Honor. He has many heroic qualities such as bravery, being a leader, and Being Trustworthy.
Lucian Adams was born on October 22, 1922, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was one of twelve children from a large Mexican American family. He attended Port Arthur High School. Adams enlisted in the army in 1943 after spending two years in a wartime plant making landing craft.
Adams received the Medal of Honor when he began walking down a road, which was heavily wooded on both sides. His squad had not gone thirty feet before German machine guns opened fire killing three men and wounding six others. The rest of his men took cover except Adams. He rushed forward moving from tree to tree straight through enemy fire, clearing it for his fellow soldiers.
A hero by definition is a man of distinguished courage or ability admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. Lucian Adams is a hero because he showed bravery when he single handedly took out machine gunner nests. He was recognized by the United States president by receiving the Medal of Honor for his noble deed.
In conclusion, Lucian Adams was a hero who saved the lives of many American soldiers in France. All of the awards that he received in that war proved that he is a hero and a true American.
