My hero is my mom, Lori Blake. She always has good advice for me and
keeps me on the right track. She is a strong person and is a good role model.
She is one of the people that I trust the most.
My mom says that teachers, her kids, and her faith inspire her. She was
a teacher when she was younger until she had kids, then she quit to take care
of my brother and I.
She thinks that she is closest to my grandma and I. My grandma's name is
Nora and she is always there for my mom. They call each other everyday and talk
a lot. I am very close to my mom. I tell her a lot.
My mom says that her favorite thing about herself is her family values
and her dedication to hard work. She is very close to her family and loves them
so much. She works hard everyday. She cleans all the time and our house is
always spotless. Sometimes she never sits down during the day!
The hardest point in her life was when she was young. She always thought
that she "wasn't good enough." She was a cheerleader and she was always
persuaded to do bad things. My mom never did anything like that, because she
knew that she would get in ten times more trouble when she got home. She
couldn't afford the "designer jeans" and everything else everybody was wearing.
Her favorite thing to do in her free time is to work outside and clean
the house. As I said, she works all the time. We have beautiful landscaping all
because of my mom. She is tan year round because she is always outside fixing
or doing something. Our house is so gorgeous on the inside. She is such a good
decorator. She has always wanted a new kitchen because she thinks that our
kitchen is too 70's. That is probably one of her biggest dreams.
I asked her what the best thing in her life was, and she said her kids.
My brother has Aspergers syndrome and he can be difficult sometimes, but we
love him so much and I think he has made my mom a much better and stronger
person. He gives her a challenge every day.
I asked my mom what makes her "Lori Blake." She answered with how people
like to hang out with her and her personality. She has two really good friends:
Jill Boehler and Andee Pike. They tell each other everything they hang out all
the time.
Her biggest fear in life is that something bad will happen to Charlie or
me. I'm surprised she didn't say heights. She is so scared of heights that she
won't even get on a plane. She is also very claustrophobic.
My mom became a teacher because she wanted to help kids to become better
people and feel good about themselves. She loved being a teacher. She still has
little ornaments that her students gave her for Christmas and she smiles
whenever she puts them on the Christmas tree. I also asked her if she was a hero,
and she said she feels like she is a hero to her students.
I love my mom and I think she is one of the best people in the world. I
never want to be without her.
