Louis Braille

Louis Braille is my hero because he has made it easier for the blind to read because he invented another type of raised writing in dots.

Louis Braille was born January 4,1809 in the town Coupvray, France. He went to school at the National Institute for Blind Youth. His family members were mom-Monique, dad-Simon Rene and three brothers and sisters. He became blind he went into his father's workshop and accidentally poked himself in the left eye with an awl. His eye became badly infected. The infection went to his right eye and soon, Louis was blind.

Charles Barbier demonstrated "night writing" to Louis' school, which is reading with raised letters that are carved in wood. This made Louis want to improve his writing so he invented Braille.

Louis inspires me to keep moving forward and never give up and live my dreams. That is why he is my hero.
