People who accomplish what they want to, against all odds, are heroes. They know what they want and strive to get it. This is why Lillian Gilbreth is my hero. She was the first woman to become a true industrial/organizational psychologist. She accomplished that, even though everyone in it was male. Also, most were against her because she was a woman.

My hero's name is Lillian Gilbreth. Lillian was born in Oakland, California, on May 24, 1878 and she died in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 2, 1972. She made a difference by becoming the first female industrial/organizational psychologist.

Lillian Gilbreth was the mother of twelve children. She received twenty-two honorary degrees from schools like Princeton University, Brown University, and the University of Michigan. Also, she and her husband have a permanent exhibit in the Smithsonian Museum of American History. And in 1915 she earned her PH. D from Brown University.

Gilbreth has inspired me to try to excel in everything I do and become the best I can be. She showed me that I could overcome even the toughest of obstacles and succeed in any thing if I try. Lillian Gilbreth has helped show me that, no matter how hard the challenge, it can be done.

A hero is anyone that has inspired you to do something, whether it's to become the first female in a certain industry or the first person to explore Mars. Follow your dream and don't give up. Maybe someday you will become someone's hero.
