Lisa Goodrich

by Gillian from Glenbrook

“You can never understand what it’s like to be a mother; no one can ever teach motherhood. You can never prepare yourself for being a parent. No matter what you do."

My hero is Lisa Goodrich, my mom. She is a sister, daughter, wife, mother, and teacher aide. Lisa is a teacher aid at an elementary school. She is a great mother to her kids and a great wife to her husband, Todd. Lisa grew up with her sister, mother, and father. She was the youngest in the family so her sister always stood up for her. Lisa loves her family and is always true to them. My mom is my hero because she’s been through a lot and still stayed strong. I deeply respect her for that. My mom was very sad when her own mom died. Lisa was about twenty-five at the time. She stayed strong though.

My mom has helped me a lot through my life and I love her very much. I always go to Lisa for help, support, and advice. My mom is a teacher’s aide. To become a teacher aide my mom had to get a high school degree, and on-the-job-training (student teaching), and a college degree. She helps a child who has many serious allergies. This was another reason that she was my choice for my hero, because everyday she helps this child stay safe from these foods. My mom was a great pick as a hero to me.

For my mom, many have inspired her. She was very encouraged by her own mother. My grandmother died of a brain tumor while my mom was in her twenties, so young. This experience changed my mom. She was realizing everything her mom told her and was starting to understand. Her older sister, Laurie, also inspired my mom. Her sister always stood up for her. My mom is very thankful to have her.

My mom made a huge difference in my life. Without Lisa I wouldn’t be where I am today. She was always my inspiration and is there when I need to feel better. Lisa cares for everyone. She’s very independent, but dependable. My mom is brave and helpful. Lisa is strong, especially mentally. She’s a good influence, and is appropriate because she has a big heart; She’s inspiring, volunteers, and is optimistic, faithful and perseveres. I love my mom with all my heart. Whenever I need her she is there for me. Lisa Goodrich has made a difference in many lives, one being mine. My mom makes a difference in her school and saves her student a trip to the hospital. Everyday she has to make sure this student doesn’t come in contact with anything she’s allergic to. I think the school is lucky to have her and she’s happy to be there.

Lisa Goodrich, my hero, is important to many lives. (Another good reason for her to be my hero.) Her family and friends adore her. Lisa has been through a lot and deserves the best. My mom is never selfish and always thinks of others. She is an important shoulder to lean on to her sister; a helpful, loving hand to her husband; a great mother to her sons, guardian to her students, and most of all a hero to me.
