I found out about L.J. Smith in 2007 when I was in 6th grade. The first book I read by L.J. Smith was The Vampire Diaries. I have always enjoyed watching movies or reading about the supernatural.

What also attracted me about her others books was how much her characters changed throughout the story. Some started out weak and afraid and grew to become brave leaders. Others started out strong but almost uncaring and grew to become fierce leaders and loyal friends. Ever since I was little I have always enjoyed writing stories or just little plots. When I read L.J. Smith’s books, I just knew I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. And thanks to L.J. Smith I love to read. I used to read because I had to, now I read because I like to.

Some jobs related to writing are journalism, scriptwriter, and playwright. There aren’t really any education or training requirements to become a writer. There are classes in college you can take to get better at writing but you don’t need them to become a writer. The amount of money you get from writing depends on how many copies are sold and how popular the books are. Writing is hard and it takes a lot of time to figure out the whole plot and etc, but it is enjoyable.

When L.J. Smith was young, she used to think up stories and share them with her friends. She was a storyteller before she could even read and write. She was happy when she could tell others stories. So when she learned how to read and write, she started to write stories and poetry. L.J. Smith knew she was going to be a writer when she grew up. She was always coming up with these stories in her head, she doesn’t remember a time when she wasn’t. No matter what others thought about her stories, she would still be a writer; for her it’s a nice escape from reality.

I have read that her stories have helped others with their hardships in life. L.J. Smith’s books are more than just entertainment for teens. This may sound odd to some people, but her books have helped some of us with daily life. Her characters face similar things that teens today deal with. Almost everyone has dealt with a bully at least once in their life. Like her strong confident characters, we can stand up and ignore the bullies. We may not be supernatural, but other people shouldn’t mess up our lives.

In high school, I can take harder English classes so I can write better and in college I can take some creative writing classes. In my free time I should write, whether it’s writing short stories or poetry. Just writing anything and having someone else to read over your work will help. You don’t need to major in anything to become a writer. Ever since I was little I have enjoyed writing and when I first read one of her books, I knew I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. L.J. Smith is my personal hero because her books have taught me to just be myself and to stand up for what I believe in.
