Secret Santa Larry Stewart

This is Larry Stewart, who is a 58-year-old businessman. He is famous not because he is a businessman who made millions, but because he has been giving out his money, working as a Secret Santa.

For 26 years, Secret Santa Larry Stewart has been handing out his money to strangers anonymously during the holidays. At first, he started with giving out $5 and $10 bills. He succeeded in his cable television and long-distance telephone service business, and he made millions. From then, Larry Stewart started to hand out bigger gifts for people as a Secret Santa. He started to hand out $100 bills, sometimes two or three at a time. So far, he has given out $1.3 million to others.

Larry Stewart's donation started in December 1979. It was a very cold day. He got fired, so he went to a drive-in restaurant to comfort himself. At the restaurant, he saw a woman trying to make money in the cold weather. He gave her a $20 bill and told her to keep the change. She said, ‘Sir, you have no idea what this means to me’. That made Larry Stewart to donate his money for nearly 26 years.

Larry Stewart is my hero, because he did something that no one else could do. Giving of money for somebody else is a hard thing to do. Even more, he has donated a lot of money anonymously to people who he does not even know. He spent his money and his time to help people around him. Only a person who truly wants and tries to help others with passion can do what Larry Stewart did.

Now, Larry Stewart is suffering from cancer, and his donation and kindness to others might end. However, I think his act inspired others to help people around them, and bring hope to the world.
