In an interview in 2012 Lindsey stated "A lot of people have told me along the way that my style and the music I do......is unmarketable. But the only reason I'm successful is because I have stayed true to myself." By this she has inspired me to "stay true to myself" and that is why I chose her to be my hero. Not only has she accomplished many great things throughout her life, but she has also helped so many people become who they want to be by showing them anything is possible. On a video shoot to Kenya, Lindsey showed the Kenyans a violin for the first time and what a beautiful sound that it makes. She also introduced the art of ceremonial violin to the Maasai warrior which was introduced by the Spanish to the Tarahumara Indians in the 1500's.
At age 23 she was a finalist on the reality television show America's Got Talent. Lindsey stated, "I was devastated at the results ... It was painful, and a bit humiliating; however, I had to relearn where it was that I drew my strength." This is the perserverence with has inspired me in my life that no matter what people may say about my talents I will always keep them up and never quit. I have tried to figure out where I "draw my strength". After her performance on America's Got Talent she teamed up with cinematographer Devin Graham in creating her very first music video of her song "Spontaneous Me". It was filmed May 9, 2011 and started the YouTube phenomenon of dubstep violin. since then there have been 138,176,360 views since that life changing day.
Lindsey states "My musical style is a reflection of my personality, and through it I hope to share my belief that no one should be afraid to be themselves." This has inspired me to stand out and not be afraid to be myself. I implore everyone to follow Lindsey's advice and be themselves because no one can stop you from fulfilling your dreams. Lindsey also said, "I believe that through our thoughts, beliefs and the environments we create, we each possess the power to make a positive change within ourselves and others." ".....no one should be afraid to be themselves". As long as we stay true to ourselves, it is merely impossible for us not to achieve our goals as musicians and others genres worldwide.
Now as i conclude this story of why Lindsey Sterling is my hero, I remind each and every one of us that if you remain yourself and go after your dreams - you can accomplish anything.
