Larry played so well in high school that he earned himself a scholarship to the university of Indiana to play for the legendary Bob Knight. Being from a small town larry really didnt feel comfortable at a big lively college like university of Indiana so he dropped out of college for a while. A year went by and he decided to go back to college but he did not go back to university of indiana larry decided to go to Indiana state University. Indiana state was a small college, something larry could relate to being from a small town and all larry joined the basketball team and that was where the legend was born at. Larry's senior year in 77'' was his best year of his basketball career. He lead his team to NCAA Championship against a very good Michgan state team. Michgan state was led by Ervin ''Magic'' Johnson who was equally good as bird or some argue that Magic was better. Magic and Michigan state crushed larry and the Sycamores 75 to 64. Larry really didnt like to lose but he took defeat and moved on.With the 6 pick in the draft, the Celtics drafted Larry bird and was hoping for the same production he gave in college. Larry was so amazing his rookie year that he won the rookie of the year beating out Magic Johnson for the title. The next year the Celtics brought in some big men and that just completed the team and a few months later the Celtics went to the NBA finals where they met the lakers. The Los Angeles Lakers where led by Magic Johnson and Kareem Adbul-Jabbbar. The Celtics took the first series but from then on it was like a rivalry; first the Lakers would take one, then the Celtics... it was amazing basketball.

Larry Bird did a lot in his basketball career but the reason why he is my hero is that he never gave up. Larry faced a lot of things in his life but he moved on and never lost his love for basketball. I chose larry bird because he and I have a lot in common like he doesn't like to lose and I don't either and he played for the Boston Celtics and I love the Boston Celtics. When I was younger, I saw a clip of larry bird and i was so amazed i was like how can he do that and from that moment until now i fell in love with basketball. If I could have a conversation with him, I'd ask him what does it feel like to win a chamionship because the feeling i get from watching it on t.v. is breathtaking so I can just imagine his answer and we would talk about the NBA today. Larry Bird is a role model to a lot of people but he is my hero.
